Gavin & GG's Yarn

Last weekend we went to San Manuel Indian Casino on Friday night to play bingo with Grant's Parents & Sister :) Oh man the lady was calling the numbers so fast and it was soooo stressful LOL. You barely had time to take a bite of your dinner because you would miss a number. Marsha won the first game!!!! She has been on quite the winning streak lately :) I'm just jealous that I'm not the bingo queen like she is LOL. San Manuel is in San Bernadino and the outside is beautiful but the people there are scary, you could barely get on a machine you liked it was so crowded, you definitely wouldn't know there were problems with the economy after seeing all the people gambling. It was alot of fun and I can't wait to go again, next time I hope to win!!! There is the possibility of winning $ 26,000 on one game. Um YES PLEASE :)

Saturday we met Grants parents at Road House for a yummy lunch and went to there house so Grant could help his Dad do some work. Around Christmas time I asked GG if she could make me a pink scarf and she is almost done!!! Gavin had fun playing with all the yarn GG had perfectly layed out for the ends of the scarf.

Caught Red Handed LOL

Gavin had sooo much fun running around Grandma & Grandpas house and playing with everyone and all the toys :)
Here is a Robers Family Photo

Thanks for a Great Weekend!

Gavin & Charlie

Hi Everyone! Mom called me yesterday afternoon and said someone surprised us with a visit and wants to talk to you :) Who gets on the phone you ask? THELMA!!!!!

For those of you whom don't know Thelma, we have been friends now for 10 years :) The beginning of last year was a tough one for both of us, I just had Gavin premature when Thelma called to give me the horrible news that her Beloved Husband Charlie was killed in a car accident and she was pregnant. I can't even imagine what she went through and it just breaks my heart that Charlie never got to meet his son, he would have been a Wonderful Father. Grant, Josh and I went to the funeral and the house after to hang out with Thelma and share all of our memories of Charlie. I felt like a horrible friend because I couldn't be there for her like she needed and I wanted to be, my son was fighting for his life in the NICU and I was there All Day, Every Day. I had sent her cards often to let her know I was thinking about her and the baby, that they were in my daily prayers. To make a long story short (sorry I guess its already long) we lost touch and I thought that I did something to upset her because she never called me back or acknowledged my letters and we hadn't spoken since the funeral, it has been over a year. I saw that she had a son, Charles James Carotenuti Jr from a friend online and it made me so sad that I wasn't able to share that joy with her. N-E-Ways she stopped by yesterday!!! I talked to her on the phone for a while (since I was at work sniff sniff) and she was in the area and decided to stop by and say Hi! She is doing very well. Thelma explained to me that I didn't do anything wrong and thanks for sending the cards, she was just in a deep depression and wanted nothing to do with anything or anyone. Her house was sitting vacant because she couldn't bear to go back there, she would get sick because of all the memories of him, everything was just as he left it 1 year ago. His work boots were where he last took them off and the walls were covered in pictures with all the memories they made and shared. Nothing mattered at all to her, she didn't care about the house, she didn't care about work and she didn't want the baby, all she wanted was to be with Charlie. Her work kept calling her and telling her she needed to come in and they needed her to work, she told them to shove it and she wasn't coming back to work because she didn't care. They told her you need the insurance for your baby and she said no I don't I'll go on medical, I don't care. The home that her and Charlie made was in foreclosure and she didn't care. Her worked told her that she needed to come in a sign her resignation form if she wanted to quit, she came in and they gave her a check for $ 7,000 that her co-workers, patients and complete strangers raised for her. Needless to say they convinced her to come back to work and she's happy to be back at the hospital and back to a routine. Thelma and baby Charlie just moved back into their house thanks to the generous gift her work gave her and she feels like she in the right place. That's what Charlie would want, her to raise the baby in the house they both loved. Charlie Jr is now 7 months old and she enjoys being a mother very much and can't imagine her life without him. Even though she thought she didn't want him and regrets all the horrible things she said and thought, he is her world and she feels that he saved her life. Everyone knows that becoming a parent is a huge change and it's not easy, however she gets so excited when Jr learns something new and it's shadowed with the sadness of how proud his Daddy would have been. I know that his Father is with him and Thelma at all times and they are surrounded by his Love.
Here are a few photos of Gavin and Charlie Jr, I hope they will be friends for years to come:) Charlie is 7 months old and Gavin is 13 months old, they are the same size. Doesn't Jr look just like his Daddy?

I just want Thelma to know that I'm so proud of her for her courage and strength through the most difficult year of her life. I am sooo glad that she is finally coming around and wants to see her friends again. Her son is amazing and a reflection of the Love her and Charlie shared. I am always here for you if you need anything and I look forward to raising our sons together:) I Love You Thelma Lou.

How the mother's of premature babies are chosen

I found this online and LOVED it! I thought I would share :)

Did you ever wonder how the mothers of premature babies are chosen? Somehow, I visualize God hovering over Earth, selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger. "Beth Armstrong, son. Patron Saint, Matthew. Marjorie Forrest, daughter. Patron Saint, Celia. Carrie Rutledge, twins. Patron Saint ... give her Gerard. He's used to profanity." Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles. "Give her a premmie."
The angel is curious. "Why this one, God? She's so happy."
"Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel."
"But does she have the patience?" asks the angel.
"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it. I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I'm going to give her has a world of its own. She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy."
"But Lord, I don't think she even believes in you."
God smiles. "No matter, I can fix that. This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness."
The angel gasps, "Selfishness?! Is that a virtue?"
God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a spoken word. She will never consider a step ordinary. When her child says 'mama' for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it. I will permit her to see clearly the things I see – ignorance, cruelty, prejudice – and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side."
"And what about her Patron Saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in the air. God smiles.
"A mirror will suffice."

One year ago today we brought Gavin home from the hospital!!! It was one of the happiest, proudest days of our lives. I can't believe what a big boy he's become. Did I mention he's walking all over the place super fast and getting into EVERYTHING. I know running is not far behind :)

Here's Gavin in his car seat leaving the hospital one year ago today..........

Valentine's Weekend in Big Bear

We have been planning this trip to Big Bear for a few months now. I had a four day weekend and was very excited to take Gavin on his first trip to the cabin! Grant has been working in San Luis Obispo for the past 3 weeks so it was great to actually do something as a family and have 3 whole days together :) Our trip started early Saturday morning around 8:30am we headed up the hill. Gwenett, Isaac and the kiddos were meeting us up there and had a head start. About 1/4 way up the hill the "Chains are Required" sign was blinking and we had to pull over to put the chains on. We met the Mendez family at this point. Gavin, Jacob and I played in the snow while everyone else was putting the chains on. Grant got ours put on in about 10 minutes, however Isaac was having difficulty putting the 2nd chain on. Oh man let me tell you after an hour of pushing and pulling and kids crying the boys gave up and decided to try going up the hill with just 1 chain on. It took so long that the "chains are required" sign had moved up the hill LOL We got up the hill about 2 miles where Cal Trans stopped them for only having one chain on, Isaac paid a guy 20 bucks and 2 minutes later the chain was on and we were FINALLY ready to get up the hill. We ended up getting to the cabin about 12:30 pm. The kids were exhausted and ready to eat lunch and get out of the car seats.
Here are the boys struggling with the chains.............

Jacob & Gwenett Playing in the snow while waiting on the Dads.....

My Unhappy Boy & The Blue Sky

Once we arrived at the cabin we realized that the driveway was completely snowed in and the gate was closed. No one felt like shoveling the driveway for hours so I jumped the fence, sunk to my knees in snow and they handed the kids over to me one by one so we could at least change diapers and start eating lunch. The boys then proceeded to make a trail just big enough for us to walk in a single file line to the front door.

After we unpacked all of our things, with 3 kids we had ALOT of stuff, we ate and decided to head over to Bear Mountain so the boys could buy tickets to snowboard for the next morning. Grant's Uncle Greg has a cabin right next to Bear Mountain so we headed over there for sledding and dinner! Gavin was NOT liking the snow one bit. Of course his huge outfit didn't help either

The Daddy's & The Babies

Unhappy Boy & Daddy

Going Sledding! Gavin cried and screamed the entire way down, it was torture

Jacob on the other hand LOVED sledding! He even went a few times by himself

We sat the babies in the snow to see how they liked it. As you can tell my son was being very dramatic and hating life. He was seriously traumatized by this trip. He didn't want to eat up there, definitely didn't sleep well and was soooo homesick.

Family Photo of our son Hating us LOL

The Mendez Family Photo, at least their kids like them HAHAHA

The boys, minus Gavin all had a blast sledding and snowboarding down the hill in Uncle Greg's backyard. Connor & Kyle did a great job of making jumps! Greg and Sue made a Wonderful steak dinner and the BEST DESSERT EVER!!! I Hope Everyone had a Wonderful Valentine's Day like we did! We were so Blessed to spend it with our family!

The next morning Grant & Isaac left to go snowboarding. After debating on giving the kids naps or taking them out to town we decided to load them up and go to the Discovery Center. Unfortunately there was nothing to discover. I was so disappointed, I thought it would be like a museum where Jacob could touch animals and pine cones, it was just one room with a few dead animals and a huge gift shop. It was basically just an information center on the good hiking trails and which roads to take without chains. They did have a snowshoe tour but that was Sooooo not happening with 3 kids. In the summertime they have concerts and campfire stories outside in the amphitheater which would be fun. I think we'll go back in the warmer months. We loaded them back in the car and headed to the village. The parking lot was a joke and once we got out of the car and went to 3 stores the kids proceeded to break down one by one so we got back in the car went to Burger King drive thru and went back to the cabin. Naps, Clean Diapers and Lunch were on the agenda.
Gavin & Mia playing! Gavin's showing you his french fries.

My Beautiful Niece Mia, She Always has The Biggest Smile :)

My Handsome Son! Doesn't he look so grown up? Future Snowboarder For Sure :)

It's so hard to get a good photo of all 3 cousins :)

Gavin & Daddy playing with Jacob's Monster Trucks

After dinner Gwenett & Isaac decided to head home because they didn't have chains on (one fell off) and didn't want to get stuck in the storm. Fortunately they made it home safely. Grant, Gavin and I woke up to a Beautiful Winter Wonderland! It's so Pretty when it's snowing. However we decided we better hurry up and get going so we didn't get snowed in.

Gavin and I running to the car

We had a Wonderful weekend, even if Gavin was a Grumpy Butt! He was finally coming around and feeling comfortable when it was time to go home. Hopefully he starts liking the snow very soon because his Daddy will be so disappointed if he's not a boarder :) I hope everyone had a Great Valentine's Weekend!

So Much Going On

I know I've been a bad blogger lately. I'm trying to catch up. We have been having major computer problems at work (what else is new) and that's usually where I have free time to blog.

It's been so long since my last blog that I don't even know where to begin. A few weeks ago we took Lacey & Brandon's idea and decided to give Gavin a little haircut. I don't want to take him to get a cut yet since he won't sit still. We tried to do it while he was in the bathtub splashing around.
This is the Before shot....

This is the After shot. I guess we should've gone a little shorter. Oh well next time.

This picture is a little bit better

Gavin has been walking around like a crazy man lately. He's into EVERYTHING. He likes to pull everything out of the cabinets and throws it on the ground. We definately need to do some more baby proofing this weekend.

Gavin has been pointing at everything and anything. At first it was adorable like he's excited about certain things and is pointing to them, then I noticed that he's pointing at anything even the air so it's not as cute anymore LOL He also learned to really shake his booty and dance, it's adorable. We definately have a music lover on our hands.

Grant has been working at a job out of town in San Luis Obispo. He was gone all last week and had to leave again early yesterday morning and won't come home until Friday evening. This is the longest we've ever gone without seeing eachother and it's really hard to not see him. I guess Absence does make the heart grow fonder. I just hope he finishes this job this week so he can come home every night. I took this picture Monday morning before Grant left for the week.

It was so nice outside this past weekend that Gavin and I woke up and took early morning walks. I love the neighborhood early in the morning when everyone is sleeping and it's really quiet and tranquil.

We've also been going on bike rides alot lately. Gavin really seems to enjoy them and will kick and sing with joy the entire time :) This is just a funny picture I took on my cell phone. I dropped Grant off at Hollywood video to rent movies and I was going to Miguels for lunch. I just got done telling Grant how much Gavin hates the Miguels drive thru line because it takes sooooooo long and he always gets antsy. Well this was no exception, look how miserable he is. Do you notice him giving Mommy a secret sign for making him sit in the drive thru for 20 minutes???????

I hope everyone has a great week. Honey, We Miss You So Much, Hurry Home :)
